Book of Golden Deeds Award…is a program that honors a worthy person or group that continuously donates time, talent and energy to help those in need. Many times, fine citizens of our community do numerous good deeds that go unnoticed. The Exchange Club of Springfield likes to publicly recognize the generous people and the fine example they set.
Kids Day at the Fair…For more than 50 years Springfield Exchange Club has coordinated and run the sack races, egg toss, egg race, 25, 50 & 100 yard dashes, providing cash prizes for the winners and promoting a fun time for both parents and kids.
Road Cleanup… Four times a year we get together and cleanup the garbage from the roadside. Doing our part in keeping Springfield a clean & beautiful place to live.
American Citizenship Projects... We take our service to our community and nation seriously within Exchange, and are supportive of efforts to promote Americanism, patriotism and citizenship in the Springfield/Clark County area.
GIVEAKIDAFLAGTOWAVE… Our club hands out miniature flags each year to kids of all ages. This happens during the Memorial Day parade. Through this we hope to instill a sense of respect and pride in our nation’s symbol. And, besides, what fun is a parade without a flag to wave?
Freedom Shrines… This is a display of photographic reproductions of many of the documents important to American History. Included are the Bill of Rights, the Mayflower Compact, the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution among others. Over 12,000 of these shrines have been installed since their inception in 1949. The Exchange Club of Springfield has over ten shrines installed in the local area.
One Nation Under God… Each November we sponsor a Meeting to remember that America truly is “One Nation Under God” and that we have much to be thankful for. In Exchange, we believe that, as a nation, citizens should be deeply conscious of the transcendence of religious faith in our nation’s heritage and future.
Service to Youth... The Exchange Club of Springfield is active in the local area in serving our youth. We believe that the way to ensure the future of our nation is to provide for the next generation of leaders. Each month we honor a local high school senior as Youth of the Month and annually select a Youth of the Year. This individual goes on to compete at the District-level and possibly at the National-level, for recognition and a college scholarship. We also annually award an “Accepting the Challenge of Excellence” (ACE) scholarship to a deserving teen.
